As marriage is a mission to help each other get to heaven, we wanted to start ours with a mission week with Fr. Tansi, Fr. Antonio and Br. John Bosco, of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, who will be flying in from the UK. Fr. Pius from the Norbertine Order will also be joining us from the UK for part of the mission. You are welcome to join us for all or part of the week. Please let us know if you'd like to get involved in any way - we'd love to have you!
This mission week is also a nod to how we both first met - on a day mission around London with the CFRs, helping the homeless.

Special thanks to Fr. Sunday Ikpe of the Augustinians who is helping tremendously with the arrangements of the Mission.
MISSON DATES
Monday 12th May 2025
to
Saturday 17th May 2025
We’re still working out the details, so this page will be updated as things progress...but here's the plan so far:
Monday to Wednesday
Our journey will begin at a retreat centre in the picturesque rural area of St. Lucia, about 2.5 hours’ drive from Durban. The retreat centre has an outreach program focused on helping children from an impoverished community that lacks basic necessities such as food, clothing, education, electricity, and running water. During our time here, we’ll spend time with the children, share worship songs, and possibly lead a prayer, reflection, or teaching session. We’re also hoping to take the children on a special outing - please keep us in your prayers as we explore this opportunity!
Wednesday to Thursday
We’ll be based in or around Durban, where we’ll visit St. Philomena’s Girls Home and St. Theresa’s Boys Home once the children finish school. We’re still finalising the details for these visits, so more information will follow. Additionally, we hope to visit the Napier Centre, a Catholic drug rehabilitation centre, where we’ll spend time with the residents, and have a music and healing ministry.
Friday
We plan to visit the AIDS Centre. Also, we may hold a healing/prayer session at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church or take part in another activity, depending on the needs at the time.
During this mission, we also aim to do some home visits from Wednesday to Saturday. Furthermore, on one of these days we will be spending some time at the beach, where many homeless individuals reside. We will share lunch with them and offer prayers, companionship and support.
If you have any suggestions for something specific you'd like to see included, or if you know someone in need (for home visits, for example), please reach out to us or one of the friars!!
The retreat centre has said that the following items would be especially useful. If you're able to donate any of these to us or directly to the friars, it would be greatly appreciated:
Puzzles for ages 3–5
Reading books for ages 5–6
Colouring books
Footballs
We will continue to update this page as the mission progresses, so please watch this space for new developments.
Most importantly, please keep us all in your prayers.
There are various costs associated with the mission and anything further will go towards the people we will be supporting (homeless, orphanage, etc.)
If you would like to help by donating to the mission, please click on the button below to take you to the donation page - we'd be most grateful!!
